Earth Status Report - 2006     2006년 지구 현황보고       If the population of the Earth were reduced to that of a small town with 100 people, it would look something like this:   지구상의 인구를 100명이 사는 작은 마을로 축소한다면, 이렇게 됩니다.     57% Asians 아시아인: 57명 21% Europeans 유럽인: 21명 14% Americans (northern and southern) 남북 아메리카인: 14명 8% Africans 아프리카인: 8명 52% women 여자 : 52명 48% men 남자 : 48명 70% coloured-skins 유색인 : 70명 30% caucasians 백인 : 30명 89% heterosexuals 이성애자 : 89명 11% homosexuals 동성애자 : 11명     6 people would own 59% of the whole world wealth and all of them will be from the United States of America 전 세계 59%의 富를 6명이 소유하고 있는데, 모두 미국이고,   80% would have bad living conditions 80명은 어렵고 힘든 환경에서 살고 있고, 70% would be uneducated 70명은 교육을 받지 못했고, 50% underfed 50명은 식량이 부족하고,   1 would die 1명이 죽고 2 would be born 2명은 태어나고   1 would have a computer 1명은 컴퓨터가 있고   1 (only one) will have higher education 오직 1명만이 고등교육을 받았고.     When you look at the world from this point of view, you can see there is a real need for solidarity, understanding, patience and education. 이렇게 보면 우리에게 절실히 필요한 것은 도움, 이해, 인내, 교육이라는 걸 알게 됩니다.     Also think about the following - 이런 것도 한번 생각 해 봅시다 -   This morning, if you woke up healthy, then you are happier than the 1 million people that will not survive next week. 오늘 아침에 건강하게 잠이 깨었다면, 다음 주일에는 살아있기 어려울 백만 명 이상의 사람들보다 얼마나 행복한가를.   If you never suffered a war, 전쟁의 공포 속에 살고 있지 않고, the loneliness of the jail cell, the agony of torture, 감옥 속의 외로움을 느끼고 있지 않고, 고문의 고통을 격고 있지 않고, or hunger, 굶주림에 시달리고 있지 않다면,   you are happier than 500 million people in the world. 우리는 그렇지 않은 5억 명보다 행복한 것이고, If you can enter into a church (mosque) without fear of jail or death, you are happier than 3 million people in the world. 절이나 교회나 성당을, 감옥행이나 죽움의 공포 없이 자유롭게 갈수 있다면, 그러지 못한 지구상의 3백만 명 보다 행복한 겁니다.   If there is a food in your fridge, 냉장고에 먹을 께 있고, you have shoes and clothes, 입을 옷과 신을 신이있고, you have bed and a roof, 지붕이 있는 잠자리가 있으니, you are richer then 75% of the people in the world. 우리는 지구상의 75%의 사람들 보다 부자입니다.   If you have bank account, money in your wallet and some coins in the money-box, 은행계좌가 있고, 지갑에 돈이 들어있고, 집안에 동전도 있다면, you belong to the 8% of the people on the world, who are well-to-do. 우리는 지구상의 인구 중 8%에 해당하는 복 받은 사람들입니다.   If you read this you are three times blessed because: 당신이 이 글을 읽고 있다면 하느님의 가호를 3번 받은 것과 같습니다:   1. somebody just thought of you. 당신을 생각하는 사람이 있다는 것이고, 2. you don't belong to the 200 million people that cannot read. 2억 명이나 되는 문맹자 중에 들지 않는다는 거고, 3. and... you have a computer! 컴퓨터가 있다는 겁니다.   As somebody once said: 언젠가 누가 말했듯이:   ' - Work as if you don't need money, 일은 돈이 필요 없는 사람같이 하고, - Love as if you've never been hurt, 사랑은 한 번도 상처를 받아보지 않은 거 같이 하고, - Dance, as if nobody can see you, 춤은 아무도 못 보는 것같이 추고, - Sing, as if no one can hear, 노래는 아무도 못 듣는 것같이 부르고, - Live, as if the Earth was a heaven.' 삶은 이 세상이 하느님나라인 것 같이 사는 것입니다.
